At Millersville University of Pennsylvainia, I am persuing a Bachelor of Science Education in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Percussion Performance, alongside three certifications.
An additional credential showing specialized study in the Kodály method. I was given the unique opportunity to study with two internationally renowned scholars in the Kodály method of music education - Dr. Philip Tacka and Dr. Micheal Houlahan.
An additional credential showing specialized study in technology. Students who elect Technology studies will not only be prepared to help in live sound productions in their schools but also will be prepared to teach 21st-century classes in Recording, Live Audio, Modern Band, or other technology-based classes.
An additional credential showcasing specialized study in Modern Band Applications. Students who elect Modern Band Application studies will not only be prepared to teach modern band and applied rock band classes, they will also be versed in live sound, teaching songwriting and composition in a group setting in their schools, and become familiar with all the instruments needed to teach these classes.
My first student teaching placement in the York Suburban School District, working at Indian Rock Elementary and Valley View Elementary under the mentorship of Mrs. Ashley Markey. In this role, I am gaining hands-on experience teaching K–5 general music and directing the 5th grade choir while beginning to apply my coursework in real classroom settings.
My second student teaching placement in the Wawrick School District, working at Warwick High School and Warwick Middle School under the mentorship of Mr. Matthew Tenaglia. In this role, I am gaining hands-on experience teaching secondary ensembles while continuing to apply my coursework in real classroom settings.
